The 3.1mm is suited to smaller hooks, the 3.7mm to larger sizes and the 4.4mm ring can also be used on the end of a chod leader, be it flouro, leadcore or leadfree when you don’t want the lead to be around the mouth of your quarry or you want to fish a rotten bottom.
